Tim Ewing's curated collection of recreational diving equipment from the 1940s through the 1990s, right here in Kailua-Kona. Walk through five decades of scuba history, from early double-hose regulators and steel cylinders to the horse-collar vests and gauges that shaped the sport.
This isn't gear that just sits behind glass. Tim still dives vintage equipment, and through Kona Hydrostatic Testing he keeps older cylinders, including 6351 alloy aluminum and hard-to-find sizes, safely in service. His oldest scuba cylinder is a steel cylinder made in 1940. Come see how diving equipment evolved, ask questions, and hear the stories behind the pieces.
Single- and double-hose regulators from the early days of open-circuit scuba through the 1990s.
Horse-collar vests, early BCs, classic fins, masks and snorkels.
Steel and aluminum cylinders, valves, depth gauges and early dive instruments.
